The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2024 exam notification on 19 November 2024. The UGC NET December 2024 online applications will be accepted from 19 November to 10 December 2024. The online application form correction portal will be open from 12 to 13 December 2024. The UGC NET December 2024 CBT exam will be held from 1 January to 19 January 2024. The eligible candidates can apply online for the UGC NET December 2024 from the official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in or ugcnetdec2024.ntaonline.in.

UGC NET Application Fee
The UGC NET December 2024 application fee is Rs. 1150/- for the General/ Unserversed Categories, Rs. 600 for SC, ST, and PWD candidates, and Rs. 325/- for the Third Gender. The fee must be paid online.
What is the UGC NET Exam
- UGC-NET is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the ‘award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor’, ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’, and ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ in Indian universities and colleges.
- The candidates qualifying under the ‘appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.’ category will be eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. but not for the award of JRF.
- The candidates qualifying under the ‘admission to Ph.D. only’ category will be eligible for admission to Ph.D. only but not for the award of JRF and/ or appointment as Assistant Professor.
- The eligibility will be determined in the following manner:
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2024
The Test paper will consist of two sections. Both sections will consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions. There will be no break between the papers.
UGC NET Educational Qualification
Post Graduate/ Master’s Degree with 55% Marks in the related subject. 50% marks are required for the SC, ST, PWD, and Third Gender Candidates.
Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test.

UGC NET Age Limit
There is no upper age limit for the Assistant Professor and Admission to Ph.D., However, the maximum age limit for the JRF is 30 years as on 1 January 2025.
