ASC Centre (South), Bangalore, Ministry of Defence, Government of India has released an Employment Notice for recruitment to various civilian Group ‘C’ posts. A total of 31 vacancies are available for Fireman, Leading Fireman, Fire Engine Driver and Librarian posts. The recruitment is open to eligible citizens of India who fulfil the prescribed educational, physical and other eligibility requirements.

ASC Centre South Bangalore Recruitment 2026 Qualification

Fireman

Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board. They must also be conversant with the use and maintenance of fire extinguishers, hose fittings, fire appliances, fire engines, trailers, pumps and foam branches. Knowledge of first-aid firefighting appliances and trailer fire pumps is also required.

Leading Fireman

Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board. They should be conversant with the use and maintenance of different types of extinguishers, hose fittings, fire appliances and equipment, including fire engines, trailers, pumps and foam branches. They should also be capable of training, guiding and controlling fire crew members and taking independent charge of a shift.

Fire Engine Driver

Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board. They should be proficient in trade work and possess at least 3 years’ experience in driving heavy vehicles along with a valid driving licence. Preference may be given to candidates certified by a reputed institution after completing a fireman course.

Librarian

Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent from a recognised Board and should be proficient in the relevant trade.

ASC Centre South Bangalore Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The prescribed age limit for Fireman, Leading Fireman, Fire Engine Driver and Librarian is 18 to 25 years. The age will be calculated with reference to the last date prescribed for receipt of applications.

Age Relaxation

• SC/ST: Up to 5 years
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Up to 3 years
• PwD: 10 years for UR, 13 years for OBC and 15 years for SC/ST
• Ex-Servicemen: As per applicable Government rules
• Central Government Departmental Candidates: Up to 40 years, and 45 years for SC/ST candidates, subject to the prescribed conditions.

ASC Centre South Bangalore Recruitment 2026 Physical Standards

The physical standards apply to the Fireman, Leading Fireman and Fire Engine Driver posts.

The candidates must also qualify the prescribed endurance/skill test.

Endurance / Skill Test

The prescribed test includes:

• Carrying a 65.5 kg man for 183 metres within 96 seconds
• Clearing a 2.7 metre wide ditch by long jump and landing on both feet
• Climbing a 3 metre vertical rope using hands and feet

The same physical endurance requirements are prescribed for Leading Fireman and Fire Engine Driver candidates.

ASC Centre South Bangalore Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1. Skill / Physical / Practical Test
2. Written Examination
3. Medical Examination, wherever applicable

Candidates must qualify the applicable technical trade and physical tests before becoming eligible for the written examination. Final selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in the Written Examination, subject to qualifying in the applicable Skill/Physical/Practical Test.

No interview will be conducted. The notice specifically confirms that selection will be based on the written examination, subject to qualifying in the applicable skill, physical or practical tests.

Exam Duration: 2 Hours

The written examination is objective multiple-choice type. The question paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi, except for the English Language section, which will be in English only. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Questions are of approximately Matriculation standard and may cover analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, number series and non-verbal series.

General Awareness

Questions may cover current events, everyday observations, India and neighbouring countries, sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, Indian polity, Constitution and scientific research.

General English

The section covers basic English language knowledge, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, correct usage and writing ability.

Numerical Aptitude

Topics include number systems, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, fundamental arithmetic operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, tables and graphs, mensuration, time and distance and time and work.
