HPPSC HPAS Examination 2026: Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released the official notification for the H.P. Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination-2026 for recruitment to various posts in different departments of the Himachal Pradesh Government. The notification is issued under Advertisement No. 59/8-2026 dated 26 August 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their Online Recruitment Application (ORA) through the HPPSC portal.

The recruitment includes posts such as Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service, Block Development Officer, District Controller, District Treasury Officer and Tehsildar. The official notification prescribes a uniform examination fee of ₹600/- for all candidates irrespective of category. The fee must be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or another prescribed digital payment mode. Once paid, the examination fee is non-refundable.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University. Candidates appearing in a qualifying examination may also apply provisionally, subject to fulfilling the prescribed conditions and producing proof of qualification within the stipulated period.

The candidate must have attained 21 years and must not have attained 35 years as on 01 January 2026. Upper-age relaxation is available to eligible reserved categories of Himachal Pradesh according to government rules. Certain Himachal Pradesh Government employees and Ex-Servicemen are eligible for additional age provisions specified in the notification.

The selection process consists of three stages:

1. Preliminary / Screening Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Personality Test

The Preliminary Examination is a screening stage and its marks are not counted in the final merit. Final ranking is based on marks obtained in the Main Examination and Personality Test, subject to the applicable rules.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers:

The Aptitude Test is qualifying with a minimum requirement of 33% marks. Merit for admission to the Main Examination is based on General Studies Paper-I, subject to the prescribed conditions. There is negative marking of one-third of the marks assigned to a question for an incorrect answer.

Main Examination

The Main Examination contains six compulsory papers and two papers of one optional subject:

Candidates can choose one optional subject from the subjects prescribed by HPPSC, including Indian History, Political Science & International Relations, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce & Accountancy, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Law, Sociology, Public Administration, Management, Geography, Agriculture, Engineering subjects, Hindi, English Literature, Psychology, Physics, Medical Sciences, Forestry, Horticulture and others.

Personality Test

Candidates qualifying the Main Examination on merit are called for the Personality Test. The test assesses suitability for the services, including mental alertness, judgment, logical expression, leadership qualities, social traits, current affairs awareness and knowledge of Himachal Pradesh customs, manners and dialects.

How to Apply for HPPSC HPAS Recruitment 2026

Eligible candidates should visit the official HPPSC website and use the Apply Online facility. Candidates who are not already registered must complete One Time Registration (OTR), create their profile and then log in to the OTR dashboard. After selecting the live HPAS Combined Competitive Examination-2026 advertisement, candidates must complete the application, upload the required documents, verify the preview and pay the prescribed examination fee online. The application is considered successfully submitted only after the fee has been acknowledged and credited to the Commission.
