Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Recruitment 2026: Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the official notification for Security Guard Recruitment 2026 under Advertisement No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27 dated 25 August 2026. The recruitment is being conducted for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers for appointment in Chennai/Tamil Nadu. A total of 25 Security Guard vacancies are available across SC, OBC, EWS and General categories.

The online application process starts on 25 August 2026 and the last date to apply is 14 September 2026. Candidates must have passed 10th standard or equivalent, should be able to speak, read and write Tamil, and must meet the prescribed defence-service and medical requirements. Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Vacancies & Qualification

Vacancy Details

The vacancies are reserved exclusively for Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveers, excluding disabled Ex-Servicemen.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must:

• Pass 10th Standard or equivalent examination.
• Candidates should not have passed Graduation or equivalent.
• Be able to speak, read and write Tamil.
• Eligible Ex-Servicemen without the specified civilian qualification may be considered with the prescribed Army/Navy/Air Force educational certificate after the required period of service.

Eligibility

The candidate must be an Ex-Serviceman/Ex-Agniveer from Army, Navy or Air Force. Candidates currently serving in the Armed Forces whose specific period of engagement is completed on or before 30 September 2026 may also apply.

Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Age Limit

The basic age limit is 18 to 26 years as on 01 August 2026. Ex-Servicemen receive relaxation based on category and actual defence-service period, subject to the prescribed maximum age of 45 years. For Agniveers, the age limit is 21 years + actual period of service as Agniveer + 3 years.

Persons with Disabilities, disabled Ex-Servicemen and dependants of servicemen killed in action are not eligible for this recruitment.

Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Salary

Selected candidates will be placed in the Subordinate Staff cadre pay scale:

₹19,500 – 665/4 – ₹22,160 – 830/5 – ₹26,310 – 990/4 – ₹30,270 – 1170/3 – ₹33,780 – 1345/3 – ₹37,815

Basic pay will be fixed based on the candidate’s last drawn defence-service salary. Other benefits/emoluments will be applicable as per the Bipartite Settlement and Bank rules.

Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Job Profile

The selected Security Guard may be required to:

• Guard and secure Bank premises and property.
• Prevent unauthorized entry, attack, assault and infiltration.
• Monitor movement of Bank property.
• Operate security equipment such as CCTV, Electronic Alarm, Access Control Systems, X-Ray machines, DFMD and HHMD.
• Operate fire alarms and fire-fighting equipment.
• Work in shifts, including night shifts.
• Perform other subordinate-cadre duties assigned by management.

Indian Overseas Bank Security Guard Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

1. Online Objective Type Test
2. Tamil Language Test
3. Physical Fitness Test

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the objective test, local language test and physical fitness test, according to reservation-wise merit.

The Bank will decide the qualifying cut-off scores depending upon candidates’ performance and vacancies.

Physical Fitness Test

Candidates must qualify in each of the four physical tests. Only one attempt is permitted for each test.

Push-Ups: 30 or more = 30 marks; 21–29 = 25 marks; 15–20 = 20 marks; 14 or below = Fail.

Sit-Ups: 30 or more = 30 marks; 21–29 = 25 marks; 15–20 = 20 marks; 14 or below = Fail.

1 KM Run: Under 4 minutes = 30 marks; 4–5 minutes = 20 marks; 5–6 minutes = 10 marks; above 6 minutes = Fail.

Drill Test: Saavdhan/Vishram, Dahine Mur/Baen Mur and Saluting are assessed.

Before the physical test, candidates must undergo a medical fitness examination and submit a medical fitness certificate from a medical practitioner not below the rank of Civil Assistant Surgeon. The certificate must not be more than 15 days old on the date of the Physical Fitness Test.

The Bank will arrange free Pre-Examination Training for eligible applicants belonging to SC/ST, Minority Communities and Ex-Servicemen at Chennai. Candidates must opt for the training in the online application. Travel, boarding and lodging expenses will have to be borne by the candidate.

Candidates must first register themselves and will receive a Registration Number and Password through email/SMS.
