Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 250 Local Bank Officer Posts

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a Government of India Undertaking, has released the official notification for Local Bank Officer (LBO) Recruitment 2026-27 under Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27. The recruitment drive is being conducted for 250 Local Bank Officer posts in JMGS-I (Scale-I) across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Eligible candidates can apply online from 08 August 2026 to 24 August 2026 through the official IOB website.

Candidates applying for the LBO post must possess a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized university and should be between 20 and 30 years of age as on 01 August 2026. Candidates must also have proficiency in the local language of the State for which they are applying. The selected candidates will initially be posted within the State applied for, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Category-wise total vacancies are 36 SC, 18 ST, 80 OBC, 22 EWS and 94 UR.

Educational Qualification

Local Bank Officer (LBO) – JMGS-I:
Candidates must have a Degree/Graduation in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. The candidate must possess a valid marksheet/degree certificate proving that he/she is a graduate on the date of online registration and must enter the graduation percentage while applying.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the local language of the State for which they apply. Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th will have to qualify the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the Personal Interview.

Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be minimum 20 years and maximum 30 years as on 01 August 2026. The candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2006, both dates inclusive.

Upper age relaxation is available as per Government of India rules: SC/ST – 5 years, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 3 years, PwBD – 10 years, Persons affected by 1984 riots – 5 years and eligible Ex-Servicemen – 5 years, subject to the conditions prescribed in the notification.

Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 Salary

The post carries the Scale-I Officer pay scale of ₹48,480 – ₹85,920.

In addition to Basic Pay, applicable DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances/perquisites will be provided as per the Bank’s rules. Selected candidates will remain on probation for 2 years of active service. A Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2 lakh is also required for a minimum service period of 3 years.

Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process will consist of:

1. Online Examination
2. Language Proficiency Test (where applicable)
3. Personal Interview
4. Final Merit List

Candidates qualifying in the Online Examination will be called for LPT wherever applicable, followed by Personal Interview. The final selection will be based on the combined performance in the Online Examination and Personal Interview in an 80:20 weightage ratio.

Indian Overseas Bank LBO Recruitment 2026 Exam Pattern

The Online Examination contains 140 objective-type questions for 200 marks. There is a negative marking of 1/4th (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question for each wrong answer. There are no sectional qualifying marks, while the minimum aggregate qualifying marks are 30% for reserved candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates.

Personal Interview

The Personal Interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are 45% for reserved candidates and 50% for unreserved candidates. The final score will be calculated using 80% weightage for the Online Examination and 20% for the Personal Interview.
