Punjab & Haryana High Court Clerk Recruitment 2026 – Notification Out for 1270 Posts, Apply Online

The Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts (S.S.S.C.) under the High Court of Punjab and Haryana has released the Detailed Employment Notice No. 37C/SSSC/PB/2026 for recruitment to 1270 Clerk posts in the District Courts of Punjab. The recruitment is being conducted through direct recruitment on behalf of the District and Sessions Judges of Punjab. The online application process will start from 07 October 2026 and eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official SSSC website.

Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science or equivalent from a recognized university and having Punjabi as a subject at matriculation level can apply. Candidates must also possess proficiency in computer operation. Punjab & Haryana High Court Clerk Recruitment 2026 Qualification

The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or equivalent degree from a recognized university. The candidate must also have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as one of the subjects and must have proficiency in computer operation. The required qualification must be possessed by the closing date of submission of the online application.

The age limit is calculated as on 01 January 2026. For Unreserved/General candidates, the minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 37 years. SC and BC/OBC candidates of Punjab receive 5 years relaxation, while PwBD candidates of Punjab receive 10 years relaxation. For Punjab Ex-Servicemen, the upper age limit is the number of years of military service rendered plus 3 years. In-service employees can have an upper age limit of 45 years, subject to the applicable rules.

The selection process consists of:

1. Online Written Examination (Computer Based Test)
2. Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) – Qualifying
3. Checking of Original Testimonials/Interaction
4. Final Merit List

The final select list is prepared strictly on the basis of merit in the online written examination (CBT). Marks obtained in the Computer Proficiency Test are not counted for final merit because the CPT is qualifying in nature.

Written Examination

The written examination is conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) with a total of 100 marks and a duration of 2 hours.

The subjective English Composition consists of Essay (150 words) – 10 marks, Letter – 5 marks, Precis – 5 marks and Translation from Punjabi to English – 10 marks.

Qualifying Marks & Negative Marking

Candidates must secure 33% marks in each subject and at least 40% marks in aggregate in the written examination. There is negative marking in the objective portion, with 1/4 mark deducted for every wrong answer. Unattempted questions receive no credit or discredit.

Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

The CPT is mandatory and qualifying in nature.

• Part-I: Spreadsheet Test: 10 marks, 10 minutes.
• Candidates must secure 4 or more marks (40%) to qualify.
• Part-II: Computer Typing Test: English typing speed of 30 W.P.M.
• The typing test is checked only for candidates qualifying the Spreadsheet Test.

Candidates qualifying both the written examination and CPT are called for checking of original testimonials/interaction.
